Unlike last summer's ride through the Maritimes, I've put the panniers on the back for this trip, along with the frame bag and the bag up front with a clear map case on top. It's been a while since I traveled with fully loaded rear panniers; I'd forgotten how they make me shimmy!
Also new for this ride are the side cages on the fork. I might have been better off going with lowrider front panniers, but we'll see how they work.
One hour in -- coffee stop. Meeting Eliza and Sarah in a bit to ride the High Trestle Trail. Planning to ride to Coon Rapids today.
Happy trails!
ReplyDeleteLove the blog! I am living vicariously through you and wish I were peddling along side you, or rather behind in your draft! Thanks for creating a blog. It will be fun to see all the places you will go. I will pray for tailwinds in every direction you go!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Scotto! You would have loved a part of today's ride, coming north along the bluffs above the Missouri River, through the Omaha and Winnebago Reservations. Other parts, like trying to yank the chain out from between the cassette and the rear hub on a minimum maintenance road that nobody drives on, let alone rides, have been a different kind of fun.
